Hi Everyone,

This week I am handing the blog over to Jill after our education day with L’Oreal Professional I thought it would be interesting to have a non- hairdresser view on the latest colour innovation from L’Oreal Professionnel – Botanēa.

Last week we had an education session on something completely new which I loved being part of. L’Oreal Professionnel Botanēa is a 100% Herbal Professional Hair Colour composed of 3 herbal ingredients. Simply mixed with hot water, these 3 powders enable colourists to give clients an all natural hair colour with lots of possibilities. They are Cassia, Henna and Indigo designed to give an infinite palette of shades that can be tailor made to suit individual clients.

When we used the Henna based shade on our model at Byron Hairdressing, it looked quite different to the normal chemical colours, a natural brown colour and distinct green tea scent. It almost looked like a mud mask! The magic was revealed when it was rinsed off, beautiful, glossy luminous shades that flattered the skin tone and added a dynamic depth to the normally mousy brown hair. Wow!

Digging deeper into the education side we discovered that the Botenea range is vegan friendly, completely natural ingredients that will be more environmentally friendly as well as having a more natural process (It will avoid the complex chemicals associated with normal hair colour). It’s a hair colour that will cover grey and add moisture with the coconut oil essential ingredient. Fewer irritants with no perfume and only mixing with hot water it aims to be kinder to the hair fibre and scalp. It is a new take on colouring your hair, but to get that mix of tones and depth of colour you love, it’s best in the hands of professional stylist. Their skills and experience to measure and mix the powders, using a precisely determined water temperature will give you great colour every time.

Our changing world has chemical and plastic pollution in the news almost daily and it’s something we are all aware of. I found it really interesting that the industry leaders in traditional hair colours has taken a step towards a 100% natural colour product that can offer clients an alternative that cuts back on chemicals, but still delivers on great looking hair colour. Will it make a difference to you? Are you looking for less chemicals and more environmentally friendly options in your life? It might not be for everyone, but it does open up a new option for hair colour that’s a bit different from the rest.

See you all soon
