One of the youngest members of the team, Ryan Steedman, has become the first assistant to pass his graduate stylist exam on his first attempt since Byron Hairdressing was opened more than 16 years ago. As one of the country’s top salons, Byron sets extremely high standards for its team, but it also invests heavily in ongoing education to ensure everyone attains and sustains those levels.

‘Ryan did extremely well to pass first time and everyone in the salon is very proud of him,’ said owner Ronnie Marshall. ‘He has a talent for styling and an infectious enthusiasm for his craft. I predict a great career for him in hairdressing.’

Over the three years, Ryan has worked assiduously towards his qualifying exam under the watchful eye of Ronnie and in-salon educator Lisa Panetta. He performed well under the spotlight, completing a series of challenging haircuts and is now qualified to take on his own clients. But Ryan, like the rest of the team, will carry on training weekly to enhance his skills.

‘Hairdressing training never ends and education is a priority in Byron, with everyone, including myself, attending training in-salon, with L’Oréal and in London,’ added Ronnie. ‘My motto is, ‘hairdressing is a journey not a destination’, so, as with all the team, Ryan’s training is ongoing. This month he begins on the L’Oréal’s professional colour training programme.’
