Byron’s owner, Ronnie Marshall, is hopping on and off the L’Oréal tour bus during March and April following an invitation from the cosmetics giant to introduce its spring/summer collection to other hairdressers. Ronnie has started locally, with a seminar for more than 20 hairdressers in Kirkcaldy, and he will soon be travelling up to Aberdeen and down the east coast to Edinburgh.
Ronnie has been asked by L’Oréal to teach other hairdressers how to create the looks developed by its team in Paris in response to the summer/spring catwalk shows last September.
‘The haircare companies these days are much more focused on educating hairdressers so they can produce the looks dominating fashion during each season,’ explains Ronnie. ‘It’s not enough to look at pictures in Vogue and guess how the styles were achieved. Hairdressers need to keep abreast of new techniques and colours to keep clients happy. L’Oréal supports this by backing up its seasonal hair trends with in-salon training.’
The new looks feature the soft 1970s influence that permeated the catwalks in the spring/summer shows last year and which are now creeping through to the high streets.
‘Soft waves and middle partings, with lots of volume are key this season, while short hair will edge towards soft crops and asymmetric shapes,’ adds Ronnie. ‘Colour will be very popular as a way to create texture. As it’s spring/summer, blondes dominate, but we will also see lots of warm reds laced with cooler shades to create balance and harmony.’
Ronnie will be appearing in Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Kirkcaldy.
